Whoosh! Fast paced birds circle, swoop, rise and fall as they eat flying bugs. Swallows and swifts transfer so quick that it’s laborious to establish them in flight. With one swift and 6 swallow species in our space(*) step one is to resolve: “Is {that a} Swallow or a Swift?“

Even from a distance these two swallow plates from Crossley ID present many options which might be completely different from the chimney swifts at prime.

And at last, chimney swifts make a singular chittering sound in flight.
